# ZAP Credits

## What are ZAP Credits?

ZAP Credits are applied to your account as a result of Data Cleansing. Data Cleansing is the process of validating the mailing address and that a named individual still resides at the address, and is not deceased.

## Credit Refunds

ZAP-POST members with a monthly or annual plan are issued with Zap credits after each submission of recipient data has been completed. PAYG users do not qualify for Zap Credits. Credits are given if a ZAP is not sent following the [Data Cleansing process](https://zappost.com/academy/lessons/recipient-data-cleansing/).\
\
The credit system is a simple ratio, based on the count of records that are rejected, per the table below.

There is more information on this topic in the [ZAP-POST Academy](https://zappost.com/academy/lessons/zap-credits-direct-mail-address-validation-and-data-cleansing-explained/).

ZAP credits are associated with your account rather than your plan. They will also only roll over to the next billing period - after that, they are lost.
